Gulliver's Travels (2010)

Summary: Lemuel Gulliver is the failed nobody who works in the mail room of a New York newspaper and has an ongoing crush  on one of the journalists. When opportunity arrives he tries to impress her by doing a scope about the Bermuda Triangle but after a freak of nature storm he wakes up on the shores of Lilliput and the adventure begins.

Jack Black, a career on his appearance... yes, he has.

Gulliver, Gulliver ... the biggest misstake ever: Copy + Paste. You shall never ever, EVER just copy and paste anything when you want to cheat! Rule numero uno! It is just to search the internet and you are screwed!

General Edward Edwardian, biggest ego of them all, he reminds me about the sheriff in Robin Hood - Men in tights. Big headed ego, leads the army and wants the lady. And about that lady, just waiting to be kidnapped and the general to save her. What a society, all was such a well used script! Almost as classic as that Romeo and Juliet scene, which was why it worked (not including that they did not know what it was). Greatest kingdom of them all... doesn't even know about our world.

I really liked the Transformer fused with a Jaeger, hah, "never gonna happen", eh, Gulliver? And that doll in a dollhouse part was just hilarious. But most of all I liked the media-theater with its "movies and guitar hero". I LOVE IT! Hands down the best part in the movie, sadly too little time with it. The New York thing was also funny, but there you can see that he goes a bit to far. It is seriously funny but still, Gulliver should have know it would come back and bite him in the ass (or pull his underpants). 

But seriously, what is up with Red vs Blue? I have seen it so MANY times before! Let's see...

So, funny movie but it all comes down to it being Jack Black who played Gulliver. Sadly but true. But seriously what was the point with Gulliver's girlfriend to show up? She did not exactly do anything or bring anything to the ending of the movie. As an ending note, about the actors... the "giant" is the shortest one! Hah! Movie magic!

Repo Men (2010)

Summary: 2025, Remy is one of the best repo men working for the corporation "The Union" that is specialised in biomechanical organs. His job; to reclaim the artificial organ if a customer falls behind in payment but everything changes when Remy himself gets a artificial heart and he is soon haunted by his former employer and co-workers.

Well, time to work...

An interesting film that in some places became so bisar that it was funny. It reminded me so about that urban legend about someone waking up in a strange room missing a kidney, only this time the organ is owned by a corporation and it is repo men who does the deed and not some blackmarket organs thief. And seriously, the guns? Looks like something from a hit-man or die-hard movie of something. The repo men is not better, I am thinking of some SWAT team, bounty hunters or military black op. And they have the law on their side (heh, it is a pun: Jude Law). Makes you wish you read the fineprint, right?

Jake (Forest Whitaker) and Remy (Jude Law)

What I cannot really understand is why Jake, his friend since childhood and long time partner, seems to be so ignorant for his friends mental and emotional problems after having been given a mechanical heart. Almost like he is in denial about what is about to happen to his friend. He reminded me of Downey`as Sherlock Holmes who acted like a small child when Watson was planning on moving out (funny as Watson also where played by Law). More similarites to Sherlock can be found with the typewritter, Remy writes a story, is somewhat a doctor and in the "honeymoon" where Jake/Sherlock tags along.

On another note, Jake doesn't really try to do anything clinical, seriously, he uses a kitchen knife on a guy in a cab outside of his partners house almost in front of the kid ... how does he keep the job? Scratch that, how does any of the repos keep their job when they leave many dead bodies after themselves? Did the boss not say that they had to keep that part of the business secret? Not a movie for those not liking blood.

For some reason he looks more badass after he became hunted than before... where he reminded me of an assassin taking revenge on his organization. Also made me think of a movie I cannot recall the name of but it begins with a guy eating a carrot and then killed A LOT of bad guys protecting a baby (oh, and he is eating many carrots). Damn, I will have to return when I figure out which one it was... it is a good one though.

The best part was actually the ending, it really surprised me (and I LOVE surprises) and gave a whole new twist to a great part of the movie. If it made the story better, I do not know, but it was a big surprise and a good one.
